Dr. Shika Pappoe completed her undergraduate and medical degrees at Yale, followed by her internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s. During her fellowship, she also earned an MPH from Havard. She started her career in private practice in Southern California and then joined the nephrology division at USC, working at LA County Hospital, one of the country’s largest safety-net hospitals. After working in a variety of healthcare settings and seeing both the broken parts of the system and opportunities for innovation, she decided to be part of the solution.
In her pursuit to become a physician leader, she earned an MBA from Wharton. With her experience in kidney care, public health, and business management, and most importantly, her passion for improving the patient experience, Dr. Pappoe joined CareMore where she served as a regional medical officer and the director of the renal program. Dr. Pappoe’s education and experience proved invaluable in her subsequent role as CMO at Strive Health where she was responsible for designing and deploying the care model that, in partnership with health systems, payors, and physicians, supported kidney patients across 30 states. She most recently served as CMO of Hill Physicians and PriMed, the largest independent physician association in northern California.
